About | Dried Herb Vaporisation

For centuries, humans have used herbs, plants & fungi as medicine. There are many ways you can consumme dried plant medicine and an effective method is inhalation as it provides rapid onset and is relatively short acting.

We do not advocate for the combustion method (smoking, water pipes) as it is not without risk to your oral cavity and lungs. It also combusts the herbs at tempretures that are too hot to have therapeutic effect at a terpene level.

Do not mix your dried herb medicine with tobacco. Tobacco is a poison & carcinogen.

What is a Dry Herb Vape?

A dry herb vaporiser is a hand held, portable device that runs on battery and is rechargeable via a USB cable.

How does is work?

  1. You grind (or crumble) up your herb and put it in the vape chamber. Different vapes take different amounts and their chamber quality varies too

  2. You then adjust the temperature (see below for a temperature guide), attach the mouth piece and inhale

  3. A chamber of dried herb is complete once the herb is browned. How many inhalations per chamber is unique to the individual & their requirements.

Goals of Dry Herb Vaporisation

Dry herb vaporisation provides fast symptom relief as the medicinal properties are absorbed (via inhalation) to the pulmonary capilliary beds & therefore rapidly into the circulatory system.

Using a dry herb vaporiser can be handy for PRN dosing for exacerbations, induction of sleep and as short acting, quick symptom management.

When you use a dry herb vape you are inhaling hot air that has passed through the chamber containing the dried herb medicine

What are the risks of dry herb vaporisation?

As with anything we put in our lungs, it is not without risk. These include but are not limited to:

  • broncial irritation

  • increased mucous production

  • damage to the cilia (fine hairs) lining the pipes of the lungs

  • increased difficulty clearing mucous

  • increased liklihood of infection

Prices range from approximately $80 - $1k plus. Not all vapes are equal. I recommend purchasing a convection vape even though they are a little more expensive. A good quality vape that is well looked after should last you many years.
